National Inquiry on Bushfire Mitigation and Management
We can not prevent all bushfires but we can be better prepared so we minimise their impact on life and property says the report from the Council of Australian Governments. The report highlights the need for a better understanding of risk, a greater focus on mitigation and better cooperation across jurisdictions. The report attempts to balance the desire to manage fuel loads with the need to maintain biological diversity. Posted 27/1/2005
